Undergraduate Honors Thesis
Breaking Silence: Weaknesses in CU Boulder’s Response to the Sexual Assault Dilemma Public Deposited
- Abstract
Sexual assault is a prominent issue amongst colleges across the nation and CU Boulder is not excluded from that and if anything ranks above the national average for occurrences of sexual assault. Sexual assault is not a problem that can be easily solved but instead needs to be addressed from a cultural and institutional lens. CU Boulder provides various support and investigative services in coordination with Title IX requirements, but quantity does not always equal quality in services. In this thesis, there is a qualitative analysis of current Title IX guidelines, CU Boulder's policies, CU Boulder's offices, and processes regarding sexual assault, Greek life (specifically with IFC on the Hill), and recommendations on how to accurately address the sexual assault problem at CU Boulder.
