This project is a combination of what I feel are two different but similarly overlooked musical endeavors. First, I want to engage with brass quintet repertoire. Compared to other standard chamber ensembles like the woodwind quintet, piano trio, and string quartet, the brass quintet is still incredibly young and in need of new repertoire. Second, I hope to celebrate the incredible world of video game music and the connected study of ludomusicology. Similarly to film music, music from games can often be overlooked in spite of the massive effect that it has on the gamer’s overall experience. This arrangement is a multi-movement work based on themes from Final Fantasy VII with music originally written by Nobuo Uematsu. It is my hope that the work will serve as an intersection between brass musicians, and video game music enthusiasts. It will be a new and exciting work that also helps to legitimize the continued study of video game music.
