Abstract

  • The neoclassical theory of labor supply is analyzed in order to investigate: 1) how the assumption of a traditional sexual division of labor shaped the theory, 2) how the "discovery" of working women changed the theory, and 3) how neoclassical economics has responded to the feminist critique of mainstream social science.
