Abstract

• In the School of Education at CU Boulder, we are always prompted to teach students in a way that engages them through their personal lives. These board games are created to engage middle school and high school students in science topics that may be challenging to understand, in a fun and entertaining way. These board games offer students the opportunity to learn topics like carbon capture and ocean acidification, in a light hearted competitive way, while utilizing their
  critical thinking skills. Along with the board games, there is a three way lesson plan that builds upon the outcome of the game, and prompts students to continue their learning in small groups and large class discussions.
