- Abstract
This study will provide insight on how the fundamentals of music theory are applied by Freddie Hubbard within the straight-ahead style, the free jazz style, and the post-bop style. The methodology of research is modeled after the work of Dr. Yusef A. Lateef and Dr. Roland Wiggins. Their commentary on musical analysis can be found in The Repository of Scales and Melodic Patterns by Dr. Yusef Lateef.
