Abstract

Electrowetting devices used for optics have shown great potential for science and engineering applications, however certain parameters must be addressed if they are to be used effectively in industry. The investigation presented here consists of determining the critical parameters of the current device that need to be addressed for system integration. Further, the device should be optimized to give greater functionality and better response, leading to a wider range of potential applications. Lastly, this work seeks to construct an external package for the device making it suitable for real world conditions. Each aspect of this paper is explored through experimental analysis using precision equipment and custom built components, along with analytical and numerical analysis.
