My Head is a Dangerous Neighborhood

Abstract

Popular culture and, indeed, society itself has been pushed to the edges of human endurance by our obsession with interconnectivity and tech companies that are more than happy to sate that need in faster, more intrusive, and increasingly expensive ways. What will happen, then, when this technology reaches its zenith, when the only way to keep up is to, in essence, upgrade the human mind with the internet? This story cycle approaches the issue with a future eye, appropriating fictional cultural artifacts and the stories of common people to reveal one possible path for the next era of humankind blazed through pain, confusion, healing, horror, and transcendence--a simultaneously tongue-in-cheek and outrageously human display of all the good and the bad that comes with a great leap forward.
