Relationship between files: All three files are atmosphere model experiments forced with sea surface temperature data based on observations. “agcm.ctrl.nc” is the control experiment. “agcm.catl.nc” and “agcm.eatl.nc” are both sensitivity experiments. -------------------------- METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION -------------------------- We performed atmosphere model experiments using ECHAM4.6 from Max Planck Institute (MPI) in Hamburg (HAM). The horizontal resolution was set to approximately 2.8˚ with 19 vertical levels. We conducted three experiments, including the control run and two sensitivity experiments. They were all forced with monthly global sea surface temperature field based on observations. For each experiment, the model was integrated for 42 years, and we discarded the first 4 years since it takes a few years for the model to reach its equilibrium. Software-specific information: Information about the netcdf format can be found at the webpage from UCAR (https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/). It is a community standards for sharing scientific data. The nc files can be opened using software such as Python, IDL, and Matlab. One can also use Panoply (developed by NASA) to open the nc files for visualization. I have included below the information about Panoply as an example.
