06:44:28 Jen Kirk, Utah State University: We welcome your feedback on traveling exhibits. If interested, fill out our survey: https://forms.gle/v89PC96iYxKkW2JN6 06:49:03 Jen Kirk, Utah State University: https://storymap.knightlab.com/ 06:51:12 Connie Williams: I love this idea. I had a traveling exhibit before and ended up making an extra panel with local info on it 06:51:44 Connie Williams: but my ‘look’ wasn’t very great! 06:52:15 Latanya N. Jenkins: In the past, my institution hosted it with talks and other libraries, it was great bc there were multiple pieces to it. 06:52:32 Connie Williams: I have one coming now from NARA and I don’t know that we can use it during the SIP. I’m thinking of seeing if a store could use it …. ?? 06:52:55 Connie Williams: shelter in place 06:53:29 Jennifer Jones: What about advertising the exhibits to the community? Would those materials also be included? Also, will virtual exhibits be emphasized more as we move forward? 06:55:23 Arlene Weible : I think help with the design of digital exhibits would be a good thing to focus on right now. Also, are there ways that libraries can collaborate with state and local agencies to help build the local information piece? 06:56:29 Connie Williams: I’m the local history librarian at my library and so having the expertise of you folks would be excellent - and the info you’d share would provide the context and our local info brings it home. I could definitely use the graphics help! 06:57:49 mbarker: We received a National Archives free pop up exhibit commemorating the Bill of Rights. We shared it with another branch as well as a local nonprofit community organization for display at their location. 06:58:30 Connie Williams: Might there be a way to take the info from the physical exhibit and build it into a virtual one to be able to keep that info available? 06:58:41 Latanya N. Jenkins: Having virtual toolkit would be great! I like this idea. & I like the idea of building on it. 06:59:08 Jennifer Jones: Thank you! I love the idea of a media package for advertising, and also the idea of virtual components being able to preserve the exhibit once the physical one has moved on. :D 06:59:19 Connie Williams: Toolkit, yes! 07:00:30 Andie Craley: We got a standing exhibit for free on the anniversary of 19th Amendment and intended to use it around Constitution Day (we always tie in voting), but that's not going to happen anytime in our Fall term. Guess we will have to save it... 07:03:17 Lisa Pritchard: Here's a video exhibit we made that featured local, state, and federal government documents. 07:03:21 Lisa Pritchard: https://vimeo.com/364312942 07:03:31 Elizabeth McDonald: Are you thinking of using 3d printed examples of historic objects 07:03:48 Andie Craley: I think so... 07:04:06 Andie Craley: Still sitting in the carboard box at my desk... 07:05:36 Connie Williams: LOL - I have the Rightfully Hers exhibit coming too… I am thinking of asking the local bookstore to host it - with handouts to the special collections library info. 07:06:16 mbarker: 66.5″ high by 32″ wide 07:07:50 Connie Williams: Ours would have to be small - like the panels you show at the beginning of the slide show. We’re a smallish public library. Fexibility in how it sits on the floor (together, apart, etc) makes it more useful. 07:07:57 susanne: lincoln mask https://3d.si.edu/explorer/abraham-lincoln-mills-life-mask 07:08:26 Jen Kirk, Utah State University: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfo6HkPRUJk3g_AFDoVNlksH2EmFfAQMu_rAgmGEcf0ie_nTg/viewform 07:08:52 Lisa Pritchard: The free exhibits from Smithsonian have digital files of the posters--this makes creating a Libguide version easier. 07:09:04 Arlene Weible : The biggest concern right now is that we don't know when it makes sense to have in-library exhibits again … a lot of public libraries are looking for virtual options. 07:09:24 Lisa Pritchard: https://libguides.jeffco.edu/WWI 07:09:38 Jennifer Jones: Like Suzanne was saying, logistics would a large concern - such as insurance issues of borrowing materials and potential copyright issues regarding local stories. 07:10:11 Arlene Weible : Smaller public libraries often don't have the same platforms like LibGuides to do this kind of work. 07:10:57 Arlene Weible : Thank you for pursuing this project! 07:11:20 Connie Williams: I really look forward to what you’re doing. It’s a fantastic idea and I’d love to have one come to our site. Thank you!! 07:11:23 Jen Kirk, Utah State University: jen.kirk@usu.edu 07:11:25 Jen Kirk, Utah State University: susanne.caro@ndsu.edu 07:11:33 Jen Kirk, Utah State University: ben.chiewphasa@mso.umt.edu 07:11:54 Connie Williams: perfect size!!! 07:12:02 Jennifer Jones: Thank you Suzanne, Ben, and Jen! This was a great presentation! Also, go Bison! (My parents are both NDSU alumni). :D 07:12:49 Shane Wallace: Thank you!
