For one reading per week (except when you have a unit assignment due), you will submit a reading response. These responses serve two purposes: to support you in staying on track by providing additional external accountability and for you to go deeper in depth with your reading practice.
My guidelines for reading responses are fourfold. In 500 words or more please:
(1) Select a passage from the reading that you found important to your understanding of the text.
(2) In your words, interpret the meaning behind the quote. What does it mean to you? Just rephrase the meaning, you do not need to critique or comment on its meaning.
(3) Why does the quote matter? What does it contribute to the larger argument present in the text? How does it relate to the larger goals of the unit?
(4) What is one question you are left with after the reading?
