- Abstract
- Twenty-two participants were divided into social- and computer-based groups testing whether the type of source regarding upcoming pain influenced how the participants experienced heat pain. Effects were found on pain ratings based on the temperature of the actual stimulus and also whether the information about the upcoming pain was rated overall high or overall low. No other effects were found leading to the conclusion that the source of the information about the upcoming pain stimulus does not matter as much as the information received about the stimulus.
