- Abstract
Debris disks are the remnants of planet formation. The existence of such a disk around a star therefore implies the presence of a planet. If this planet has a sufficiently large mass it’s gravity will clear it’s orbital path, thereby shaping the disk. It is therefore inferred that eccentric debris disks are shaped by planets with an eccentric orbit. Fomalhaut is a well-studied example of such a disk. We created N-body simulations of planetary systems that could be potentially shaping the disk using the open source program REBOUND. While other studies have ran similar simulations, our simulations are based off of more recent and higher resolution observations, allowing an improved insight to the most likely planetary system.
