This project investigates the effects that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the theatre industry. Interviews were conducted with local theatre professionals and their responses are presented alongside research from outside sources to provide context of the wider conversations on this topic. Current changes in theatre making and consumption are discussed as well as the possible future implications of these changes. One of the largest areas of discourse was the continuation and possible expansion of digitally produced theatrical content and the potential impacts this could have for audiences and practitioners alike. Another primary focus was a possible adoption of more active anti-racist policies and structures after the pandemic in response to the George Floyd protests. While ultimately speculative, I conclude that there is likely to be change in one or all of these areas, and that the pandemic will have a long term effect on the theatre industry as a whole.
