Abstract

Depression has largely been misunderstood and mistreated for centuries. Only now are we starting to look at it more methodically and are starting to have a grasp on its possible causes and effective treatments. However for those who have been diagnosed with severe cases or treatment resistant depression they continue to feel hopeless and continue to stare down the barrel of resorting to the extreme: electroconvulsive therapy. The emerging field of psychedelic therapy could be the answer for those in this extreme. But will our society ban their use again? And what does this treatment look like in our society? This creative project will use a documentary to answer these questions.
