- Abstract
- Concepts from Descriotive Psychology are used in redescribing chronically mentally ill persons as individuals who have been "drooped out" of their various communities. These communities can include the entire range of possibilities: friendships, families, neighborhoods, municipalities. nations. and cultures. An approach to treatment is outlined that stresses changinq these communities as a way to increase the client's behavior potential. This formulation is presented as an alternative to those aporoaches that stress chanqing the mentally ill individual as the main goal of treatment.
