The Gunnison Region, the economic center of which is the town of Gunnison (population 1414, 1930 census), is situated on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Formidable ranges of the Rockies hem the region on three sides, and effectively separate it from adjacent geographic regions.
