The district is located in southwestern Colorado in Mineral county. It is in close proximity to the elevated San Juan Mountains. The town of Creede is situated on the WIllow Creek a few miles above its junction with the Rio Grande River. The lowest part of the are is about 8,700 feet above sea level and is found downstream from Creede about a mile.
