- Abstract
- The life of Titus Lucretius earns, the Roman poet-philosopher has ever been shrouded in mystery and uncertainty. From the annals of history we learn only that, he was a Rouan noble of culture and leisure, a contemporary of Cidero and Caesar. The entire energy of his life was concentrated in the production of a system of philosophy written in verse, from between the lines of which we must glean the circumstances which formed the character and the influences which moulded the life of this philosophical and satirical poet, thin lover of nature and man. However, only within comparatively recent times has his wonderful work and sole literary masterpiece, "De Rerum Natura", attracted adequate comment, or general study.
