Abstract

• This package includes the PDF version of proposals for lesson plans, activities and resources related to teaching Spanish Literature and Culture.

  The materials are Open Educational Resources and were created by CU faculty Juan Herrero-Senés and Susanna Perez-Pamies. They are accesible in the OERcommons.org repository under a Creative Commons license.

  The creation of this work was supported by Open CU Boulder 2020-2021, a grant funded by the Colorado Department of Higher Education with additional support from the CU Office of the President, CU Office of Academic Affairs, CU Boulder Office of the Provost, and CU Boulder University Libraries.

  Garcilaso de la Vega (1498-1536) fue militar y el más importante poeta renacentista español. sus temas preferidos son el paso del tiempo, la ausencia, el conflicto entre razón y pasión, y el canto a una naturaleza idílica. El "Soneto XIII" es una de sus composiciones más famosas, que incide en un tema de larga tradición literaria (iniciada por Horacio y Ausonio) como es el tópico del "carpe diem" o "aprovecha el día" ("seize the day")
