Abstract
  • At the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder), the art museum and library are building a model of collaborative teaching across our two departments. Together, we teach research practices that reinforce our complementary learning objectives: hands-on experience, close looking, and original analysis based on contextual research. Higher education has struggled to teach students to move from reporting to analysis and to build critical-thinking skills. Picking up this call, librarians have focused on moving students through the threshold concept of Research as Inquiry. However, this thorny concept has often proved difficult to convey in a typical one-shot library session.
