- Abstract
- Grounded in adult learning theory and drawing on goal setting theory, this chapter suggests best practices for librarians interested in using learning goals as a motivational tool during instruction and reports on my use of student-defined learning goals in an exploratory study with a small group of education PhD students. In this chapter, I will explore students' reflections on their use of learning goals to improve their motivation and consider the related literature.
