Abstract

For my thesis I will explore the concepts and reasons why I create art. I will explore why I seldom use the figure and instead use objects and stand-ins for the human aspects of the work. I will explain that in the absence of the human figure we associate objects with personalities and histories that vary from person to person, specifically in the leveling device known as the plumb bob. I will also explain what the objects in the work mean to me in relationship to their history and relationship to the tangible world. Additionally I will explain the usage of narrative in my artistic practice and how it relates to my exposure of the narrative through fictional movies and books. Finally I will explain as to how these works are created and the importance of the medium and presentation.
